A Better Way To Fail: How This Platform Aims To Turn Startup Shutdowns Into Something Salvageable

SimpleClosure was founded in 2023 on the idea that winding down a startup shouldn’t be chaotic, opaque or a total loss for founders and investors. Since then, it raised just over $20 million from investors including Infinity Ventures, TTV Capital, Anthemis, The LegalTech Fund and Carta. Founder and CEO Dori Yona came up with the concept while building his previous company, after a board member asked him to produce a “shutdown analysis.” The process proved so complex and time-consuming that it sparked the idea for a software platform to automate and streamline company closures.

Will Your CEO Force TA Out?

What is the probability of a CEO forcing the reduction or outsourcing of the current talent function to qualified and vetted RPOs, specialized external recruiters, and AI Agents? Indeed CEO says this—not AI—is the biggest threat to the workforce

Most business leaders are laser-focused on the existential threat that AI poses, with many of them citing it as a reason for major layoffs. At an event on April 15, however, Indeed CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba suggested there’s another force that will wreak havoc on the labor market—one that he argued is more pressing. “Actually, what is happening in all developed countries, including European countries and the U.S. . . . is a big demographic change: an aging labor market,” Idekoba said at Semafor’s World Economy Summit, Business Insider reported. He said the sheer number of people aging out of the workforce and retiring will have a “way bigger impact”—and a more immediate impact—than the changes fueled by AI.

AI Self-Preferencing – we like us and not you

This paper shows why “shadow AI” matters. LLMs not only prefer LLM-written resumes over objectively better-written human ones; they also prefer resumes written by THEIR OWN MODEL over other LLMs. In some cases, the preference was sizable. That is a Very Big Problem, and one that is largely invisible to governance and bias controls.

Recent grads are settling for jobs they plan to leave, says ZipRecruiter

Recent graduates are settling for jobs they don’t think are right for them, with 20% of employed grads saying they’re overqualified for their current roles and 18% saying they intentionally applied for a job that was below their level just to get a foothold, according to new research from ZipRecruiter. Only 26% of recent grads said they were currently on their ideal career path, while 51% said their current job was a stepping stone, according to the report. In addition, nearly 1 in 5 said they were in “bridge jobs” — positions they accepted so they could cover expenses while continuing to search.
