EEOC Votes to Rescind Its 1979 Affirmative Action Guidelines: What Changed, Why It Happened & What Federal Contractors Should Know

For nearly five decades, employers weighing voluntary affirmative action under Title VII had an EEOC regulatory roadmap and a potential Section 713(b) reliance defense for actions taken in good faith with that roadmap. According to new AARP research, 7 percent of retirees have returned to work in the past six months, a phenomenon known as unretirement. Even more telling, nearly half of those workers said they returned primarily because they needed help covering everyday expenses.

The Longest Job Postings on Record

If you think that many job postings are starting to resemble those oft-derided, seemingly never-ending drugstore receipts, you aren’t imagining things. Hiring platform Greenhouse found that the average job-description character count increased 7.4% between 2022 to 2026. Over the same period, the number of sections in an average job listing grew by nearly 14%, with those dedicated to skills jumping by almost 16%. Another job platform, Indeed, found that the number of words in the average post grew 14.3% between 2021 and 2025.
