Volition Capital led the round with participation from existing investors: Acadian Ventures, 468 Capital, and Y Combinator. This brings our total funding to $30M since starting Kombo in 2022.

AI isn’t making work easier, it’s intensifying it – researchers say teams are now facing ‘unsustainable’ workloads, cognitive strain, and higher levels of burnout

AI isn’t going to make work easier, new research suggests, it’ll make it much more intense. That’s according to an ongoing study from a pair of researchers out of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. As part of the study, researchers followed the working habits of 200 workers at an American tech company for eight months, noting that they worked longer hours at a faster pace on a broader range of tasks once AI was introduced.

The ‘invisible pay cut’ of return-to-office

As organizations increasingly lean into return-to-office mandates, they are being met with sharp pushback from employees—and growing evidence suggests strict RTO policies could push out an organization’s most valuable talent. A new analysis by MyPerfectResume found that, on average, U.S. workers spend 223 hours every year commuting to an office. That translates to about six unpaid 40-hour workweeks.

Healthcare dominated job growth in January, adding roughly 81,900 positions, more than half of all nonfarm payroll gains for the month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The concentration of hiring in healthcare highlights the sector’s central role in the ongoing labor market picture, even as other industries show more modest or mixed results.
