With record applications (up 45%), mostly from AI agents, 20% of employers are considering pay to apply. “Pay to apply” is a process for discouraging the shotgunning of applications by charging a small application fee to candidates. And incidentally, the “AI agents” driving this massive increase in resumes aren’t people. But instead, they are AI-driven software tools.
Humanly has officially announced the acquisition of three category-defining platforms—Sprockets, Qualifi, and HourWork—in a strategic roll-up that Humanly hopes will redefine the future of high-volume hiring. The move consolidates core capabilities across sourcing, screening, interviewing, and retention into a single conversational AI platform, positioning Humanly as a market leader in scalable, ethical, and efficient hiring.
Amazon is reportedly laying off up to 15 percent of its staff in its human resources division with additional layoffs in other divisions. In a companywide letter to employees in June, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said that the company expects to “reduce” its corporate workforce due to “efficiency gains” in artificial intelligence.
Yep its true the company announced on their site on Monday October 13th. Their aim is somewhat of a niche play saying they want to find ‘new ways for young adults to find local entry-level job opportunities on Facebook.’ According to their post, “if you’re looking for entry-level, trade, and service industry employment in your community, Facebook can help you connect with local people and small businesses who are hiring. Jobs on Facebook are public and visible to all adults 18 years and older.”
We’re calling it. Time of death: Fall 2025. Cause: Artificial Intelligence and overwhelm. Victims: Indeed. Monster. Glassdoor. All of them. This spooky season, it’s only fitting to announce that the era of online job boards is officially over.
