It’s conference season for job boards and talent technology companies.
That means a lot of us are on the road. A lot!
So, here are three things you may have missed but may want to know:
• Indeed has sued ZipRecruiter for customer poaching and misinformation.
HR Dive reports.
• Cloudfire introduced a new tool that blocks AI bots with one click.
Industry analyst Shelly Palmer reports.
• German media giant Axel Springer has been split into two organizations with the private equity company KKR taking control of the classified advertising business, including Stepstone.
The New York Times reports.
The TAtech Leadership Summit on Recruitment Marketing is designed for HR/TA leaders and senior professionals at enterprise employers and their counterparts among TA solution providers. To be held at the newly renovated Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse, the conference opens with a welcome reception on the evening of February 26 and then runs all day February 27. The agenda is still in development, but the focus will be on showcasing the latest technology and most innovative practices for moving to full-funnel recruitment marketing. Seating is limited at the conference venue, so register today to make sure you have a spot.
What Do These Announcements Tell Us?
First, the good news is that, thanks to the Federal Reserve’s large interest rate cut, we’re finally starting to see the beginnings of a pickup in the job market. The bad news is that the competition for business in that market is likely to grow more intense.
Second, the good news is that for every problem AI creates, the technology has the capacity to be used in the development of a solution. The bad news is that solution creation is, by definition, a reactive activity and does not necessarily provide a timely response.
And third, the good news is that, while the past 12-18 months have been difficult for many job boards and aggregators, their business is poised for significant growth. The bad news is that the value proposition of open jobs may not be enough, by itself, to attract the interest of candidates.
The implications of these three dynamics will be different for every job board and talent technology company. What’s will be the same, however, is that they will, in one way or another, impact every organization.
And, that’s the challenge. Even in the midst of the frenetic conference season, it’s important – no, more than that – it’s critical to start thinking through and preparing for those implications right now. They will happen, and in fact, have already begun to have an effect.
Food for thought,
Peter
