Axel Springer’s billionaire CEO, KKR reportedly in talks to break up media empire

German billionaire Mathias Döpfner and private equity group KKR are negotiating a break-up of media conglomerate Axel Springer, the Financial Times reported Thursday, citing four people with knowledge of the matter. A potential deal would separate the group’s media assets from its digital classifieds operation, the report said. Under the terms of the separation, KKR and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, who together have the largest shareholding in Axel Springer, would take control of its portfolio of classifieds websites, including jobs platform StepStone and real estate ads unit Aviv, the report said.

North Korean hackers are infiltrating crypto job boards in a ‘quiet war’ that rakes in $600m

Hiring in the crypto industry has never been easy. Finding skilled devs is tough, as is managing remote workers in multiple time zones. Now, crypto staffing is about to get even harder. A DL News investigation has found that fake applicants are flooding job boards with doctored CVs. Moreover, mounting evidence suggests a number of these bogus applicants appear to be North Korean nationals who are trying to infiltrate crypto projects for nefarious purposes, including gathering sensitive data, hacking, and stealing assets.

Why Grindr’s CEO believes ‘synthetic employees’ are about to unleash a brutal talent war for tech startups

The rise of generative AI will allow startups to do more with less. But the downside for entrepreneurs in the years ahead will be a more intense talent war for the best technical human employees. That's according to George Arison, a serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Grindr, the $2 billion dating company that caters to LGBTQ communities. In the near future, it won't be unheard of for startups to scale to $100 million in revenue with just a couple of dozen employees, Arison said in an onstage conversation at Fortune's Brainstorm Tech conference in Park City, Utah on Tuesday. The rise of generative AI will mean that "synthetic employees," as Arison referred to them, can handle a lot of the work that humans used to be hired to do. That's the good news for tech founders.

The top reasons job applicants say they ghost prospective employers in the hiring process

While it's generally more common for job seekers to never hear back from potential employers, ghosting can go both ways. Some job applicants may withdraw their candidacy without saying so, disappearing in the middle of the hiring process. Knowing why they do so can help companies address issues in the hiring process to better attract, hire, and retain talent. The biggest reasons job candidates said they ghost prospective employers have to do with bad experiences with talent acquisition, according to a report published Monday by FlexJobs and MyPerfectResume. Other reasons they may ghost include unpaid work in the interview and a bait-and-switch on remote work policies.
