From Nvidia to Meta, these 9 companies are hiring the most generative AI talent

There have been 10,113 job postings related to generative AI this year, according to a recent study from research firm Lightcast that analyzed postings across job boards like Indeed and company websites. Postings came from a broad range of industries, including tech companies developing their own AI and education platforms wanting to experiment with the technology, Layla O'Kane, senior economist at Lightcast, told Insider over email. Data scientists, machine learning engineers, and curriculum writers were among the top job titles for postings that referenced generative AI. "We were surprised to see the proliferation of generative AI skills being required in jobs that are not developing these technologies," Kane said. "This indicates that workers and employers are already adjusting their work needs and ways of working to incorporate these new generative AI tools."

Feds abandon first-ever criminal no-poach indictment

The U.S. Department of Justice has abandoned its first-ever criminal indictments brought as part of a wider crackdown on no-poach agreements, potentially signaling a major shift in the agency’s enforcement efforts. DOJ submitted a motion to dismiss the case in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Nov. 13 despite already having obtained a grand jury indictment against the defendants, Surgical Care Affiliates, LLC and affiliated entity SCAI Holdings, LLC. The firms were charged with two counts of conspiracy to restrain trade in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. In court filings, DOJ did not articulate a reason for its request, stating only that dismissal “is not contrary to manifest public interest, and it will allow the conservation of this Court’s time and resources.” A federal judge granted the motion two days later.

Men 2X More Likely To Use Generative AI Than Women: Report

OpenAI’s ChatGPT gets 60 times the traffic of Google’s conversational generative AI engine Bard and boasts industry-leading 30-minutes session times. But perhaps the bigger news from an analysis of the top 50 AI tools on the web is that while 69.5% of users were men, only 30.5% were women. If generative AI tools are significant aides in accomplishing work and unlocking new opportunity, that’s a problem going forward. According to a new report from AI writing tool WriterBuddy, people visited ChatGPT 1.5 billion times a month over the past year, totaling 14.6 billion visits. That’s 60% of all visits to the top 50 AI tools, and it compares to just 242 million to Google’s Bard. Bard, of course had a later start than ChatGPT, and was initially available only in the United States, though it is now open to users from 230 countries around the planet. Almost 60% of visits are on mobile, even though OpenAI just recently unveiled the ability to talk to ChatGPT in natural spoken language in its app. And, of course, almost 70% of sessions with generative AI tools are by men.
