TA Voices!

Who has the time to keep up with the latest LinkedIn comments by thought leaders in the TA space? Practically nobody.

But, not to worry. TAtech has you covered. Each week, we’ll curate and republish some of the most interesting comments posted on the site. We call the feature TA Voices!

So, without further ado, check out the TA Voices! on LinkedIn last week, including Alexander Chukovski, Dan Sapir, Matt Charney, George LaRocque, Jakub Zavrel, and Anthony Habayeb.

Niche Job Boards

“Niche job boards fail for four main reasons: 1.You are picking a niche that is too small. It is excellent to find a niche or a new trend and build a job board for it, but make sure that: first, there are jobs, and second, candidates are looking for these jobs. 2. Picking a niche that is way too competitive. Trying to enter a niche where 3-4 competitors have six-figure organic reach daily is very risky. 3. You are ignoring SEO. So, you have to develop a niche-specific job taxonomy and categorization of jobs, for which your job board will create search landing pages. 4. Customer acquisition strategy. What products are you going to sell and how are you going to reach your potential customers is something that most first-time job board owners ignore.”

Skills-Based Recruiting – One View

“Many organizations are dropping degree requirements when hiring, and emphasizing experience and skills instead. While there are some disciplines that will always require a degree, many other fields organizations are thinking outside the box. The likes of IBM, Google, Walmart, and even state governments are dropping degree requirements, embracing a “new collar” workforce, and writing job descriptions that emphasize experience over curricula that struggles to match the pace of change.”

Skills-Based Recruiting – A Second View

A recent Harvard Business School article has tons of peer reviewed research suggesting that skills based hiring is empirically bullshit. For all that buzz and budget, skills based hiring only accounted for 1 out of 800 hires last year. That makes LinkedIn Recruiter look like a cost effective and efficient SoH, by comparison. Of course, you don’t need a PhD in organizational design or a top 5 MBA to have figured that out skills based hiring is as Quixotic as calculating quality of hire a long time ago.

Work Redesign

“I think HR is staring at the same changes rapidly approaching every part of the organization. Whether driven by efficiency and bottom-line impact or enablement, this new wave of automation is approaching faster than any transformation we've seen over the last few decades. Work or tasks that are purely administrative and repetitive and require no creativity or expertise - be it technical, organizational, or market-level- will be fully automated. This is not an alarmist view that the jobs are going away. There are roles, disciplines, and career paths in HR today that didn't exist when I entered the market. These changes that occurred over decades are now beginning to happen much faster. Whether in HR or any other discipline, it's time to understand if your work is ripe for automation or enablement.”

AI Development

“As big names in AI are already thinking about trillions of dollars of compute, let's remember that our current approach to AI is ridiculously inefficient and the human brain consumes orders of magnitude less energy for the same results. As Groq recently showed for inference, there is still a lot of low hanging fruit on computational optimization. The whole power balance in the AI ecosystem could change with one research paper. Novel approaches like Tensor3D, Tenplex, RTP, G10, and DistPar aim to optimize parallelism in deep learning, reduce communication overhead, improve memory efficiency, and enhance scalability on multi-GPU clusters, showing promising results in reducing training time, enabling dynamic parallelization, minimizing memory consumption, and improving throughput in distributed neural network computing.”

AI Governance

“Governance isn't a sexy word, but great governance steers greater business success and outcomes…it doesn't just manage risk or achieve compliance. Great #aigovernance can absolutely help guide organizations towards ensuring the right solution is used for the problem or opportunity, and #genai and #llms will not always be best.”
