The CAA Vault, Which Stores AI Clones of Talent, Taps Veritone as Tech Partner

CAA has turned to technology vendor Veritone to help build and operate the talent agency's early-stage database housing replicas of its clients' digital likenesses. In September 2023, CAA launched The CAA Vault, an in-house service based in Burbank, Calif., that can scan, capture and securely store clients' digital likenesses (face and body) and voice. The point is to give talent ownership, control and permission over their digital identities to address issues of consent, credit and compensation related to AI usage. CAA inked a strategic partnership with Veritone to power The CAA Vault. Under the arrangement, CAA is accessing Veritone's Digital Media Hub technology to store the intellectual property for participating talent. Veritone is ingesting, organizing and storing the digital assets and all associated metadata, like synthetic counterparts, including digital scans and voice recordings. CAA's participating clients have access to a "unique personal vault," which enables secure storage and sharing. The agency's goal is to eventually make The CAA Vault tool available for all clients - and ultimately anyone in the industry - to protect revenue-generating opportunities related to their digital images and likenesses.

Jobcube, the easy-to-use job search site, is set to expand in the US.

Jobcube, Inc., the comprehensive search site for jobseekers, has had a full-scale launch (https://jobcube.com/). Jobcube, Inc. is part of the group company Kakaku.com, Inc., one of Japan's largest online media complexes. Kakaku.com, Inc. has been operating the job search service "Kyujin-Box" in Japan since 2015 and will leverage its accumulated knowledge to expand "Jobcube" to other markets aside from the US. Jobcube aggregates and provides the easy-to-understand details of more than five million jobs at any given time, including full-time, part-time, contract, and remote jobs. Jobseekers can easily search by keyword, salary, location, and other specific criteria to meet their needs. In addition, a considerable number of new jobs are posted per day, so the freshest job information is always available. After Jobcube’s beta release in March 2023, it has recently undergone a site renewal ahead of the full-scale release. In the coming weeks, jobseekers will also be able to refer to newly added statistics and other useful information.

Vast majority of Gen Z tech workers say they’d consider new career opportunities

About 90% of Gen Z tech workers under age 25 in North America would consider new career opportunities in 2024, according to a May 8 report from Lorien, a global tech recruitment firm, prompting fears of a brain drain. In a survey of tech workers in North America, the youngest group also voiced the least satisfaction, with only 13% saying they’re happy in their current role. “Our data should be a wake-up call for tech employers because it shows a concerning level of dissatisfaction among permanent and contractor talent,” Ryan McMahon, president of Lorien in North America, said in a statement. “Dramatic changes in the tech labor market during the past two years have given workers whiplash in terms of available job opportunities and rewards, so it’s quite natural to see this level of angst.”

OpenAI unveils newest AI model, GPT-4o

OpenAI on Monday announced its latest artificial intelligence large language model that it says will make ChatGPT smarter and easier to use. The new model, called GPT-4o, is an update from the company’s previous GPT-4 model, which launched just over a year ago. The model will be available to unpaid customers, meaning anyone will have access to OpenAI’s most advanced technology through ChatGPT. Based on the company’s Monday demonstration, GPT-4o will effectively turn ChatGPT into a digital personal assistant that can engage in real-time, spoken conversations. It will also be able to interact using text and “vision,” meaning it can view screenshots, photos, documents or charts uploaded by users and have a conversation about them. OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati said the updated version of ChatGPT will now also have memory capabilities, meaning it can learn from previous conversations with users, and can do real-time translation. “This is the first time that we are really making a huge step forward when it comes to the ease of use,” Murati said during the live demo from the company’s San Francisco headquarters. “This interaction becomes much more natural and far, far easier.”
